I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, with honors, from Concordia University, Montreal, in 1983. While living in Montreal, I became fascinated with the café world, where patrons have a sense of family, and a loyalty to their own particular neighborhood café. I began work on a series of café drawings in charcoal, emphasizing both the isolation and togetherness found there; the sense of time passing; of waiting, while at the same time expressing movement through the use of the medium.
